Our Staff

Tayhla Powell
Bachelor of Education - Curtin University, 2018
Fully registered with Queensland College of Teachers and holding a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
My name is Tayhla and I’m a qualified teacher with over eight years of classroom experience across a variety of year levels. I’ve been fortunate to teach in both Australia and overseas, spending two incredible years living and teaching in Ireland.
In 2024, my husband and I welcomed our daughter, and I’ve taken a step back from full-time teaching to be at home with her for now. Outside of teaching, I enjoy travelling, spending time with family and friends, playing outdoors with my daughter, and cosy movie nights.
I have a particular passion for teaching maths and enjoy helping children build confidence in problem solving and working flexibly with numbers. I love seeing those lightbulb moments when children realise what they are capable of! I love working with children and being a part of their learning journey!

Ellie Brown
Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education, 2015
Fully registered with Queensland College of Teachers and holding a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
My name is Ellie Brown and I am very passionate about educating children and supporting them to reach their full potential. Since I was a little girl I have always wanted to be a teacher and help others. I completed a Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education in 2015 and have over 10 years of teaching experience in both rural and regional areas.
I have taught a variety of grades but specialise and have a keen interest in Early Childhood education as a child’s younger years have a huge impact on their success as they get older. Working with a variety of diverse needs over many years, I understand the challenges that children can face in their learning. I enjoy learning new things with children and seeing their minds discover, problem solve and extend.
Although I am always here to support, my aim is to support your child in becoming confident and grow more independent in their learning so that they feel a sense of pride within themselves and can achieve great things. In my spare time I love raising my two adorable young children with my husband on our small property.

Shannon Shipton
Bachelor of Education - CQ University, 2019
Fully registered with Queensland College of Teachers and holding a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
My name is Shannon Shipton, and I graduated from CQ University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) before beginning my teaching career in 2020.
I have had the privilege of teaching Year 2, 3, and 6 at St Francis Catholic Primary School, where I developed a passion for supporting students at different stages of their learning journey. I am particularly passionate about differentiating learning to meet individual needs and working with the strengths of students who don’t always fit neatly into the ‘box’ of traditional classroom learning.
After welcoming my son Beckett in 2024, I have temporarily stepped away from the classroom to enjoy motherhood, but I am delighted to continue sharing my love of teaching through tutoring with Absolutely 4 Kids.
