Role Description

We are seeking passionate educators who love seeing students light up when they finally get something that’s been tricky for them. The number one responsibility of our tutoring team is to make students feel welcome, safe and excited to learn. You will work with our pre-planned programs in foundational literacy and numeracy and also plan to suit the particular needs of your given students to ensure lessons are high quality and engaging for our learners. You will deliver lessons either 1 on 1 with students or with small groups, and provide regular feedback to parents on their progress.

We are a small, family run tutoring centre in the heart of Mackay and our primary goal is to ignite a fire in our students to experience the joy of learning again. Many of our families come to us because their child has lost their spark and their confidence has plummeted because they’ve had a hard time at school. 

 

Our team is made up of dedicated professionals who love to see children succeed. We are a tight knit crew and when you sign up to work with us, you become part of our extended family.

 

We don’t just work on academics, we work on supporting the child as a whole and especially working with them to build a growth mindset for learning. You will not find a ‘one size fits all’ approach here and students are engaged in hands on learning as much as possible - no computer catch up programs here.

 

Our centre has been purposefully designed to feel more like home than school, so that students, parents and staff alike feel like they want to be here. Play and playfulness are at the heart of our lesson delivery, and the same for our team. We do a serious job, but we always have fun doing it!

 

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 1 year experience working with children

• Blue Card - Working with Children Check

• Teacher or TA qualification or working towards qualification

• First Aid and CPR Certificate highly desirable

• Experience working with children with additional needs eg ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia highly desirable
