Hi there, I'm Kirstin and
I'm so glad you're here!
If you’re looking for a gentle, play-based way to help your little one get ready for Prep, without rushing their childhood - you’re in the right place.

Our School Readiness Program is designed for 3.5–5-year-olds and is all about building confidence, social skills, and strong foundations in literacy and numeracy - through fun, hands-on learning and lots of care.
We know that starting school can be a big step (for you and your child), so we’re here to make sure they feel capable, calm, and excited to learn - from Day 1.
How do we support them?
We'll share our passion for learning so that your child can't help but be excited for their new learning journey in Prep.

Fine & Gross Motor Skills
+ Pre-Writing
We support your little one to develop their hand and finger strength to get them ready to write, cut and glue confidently - all through play! Threading, pinching, sensory play, crafts and more will help those tiny hands be truly ready to hold a pencil.

Social & Emotional Skills Development
Turn taking, sharing, communicating with peers & teachers and being socially confident to make friends is an important predictor of school success. We gently nurture and build on these skills in our sessions each week. Whether your child is super confident or a little shy, they'll experience emotional growth with us.

Early Literacy & Numeracy Foundations
Rather than drilling ABCs and 123s, our playful approach supports your child's natural curiosity and lays solid foundations for future reading and mathematical success. We'll encourage them to explore books, experiment with numbers and play with words, sounds, syllables and rhyming.
Programs we use to help us support them...

Pre-Lit Literacy Program
PreLit is an evidence-based early literacy program designed for preschool children, focusing on oral language development and foundational phonological awareness skills (teacher talk for the skills that will help them to read later on like rhyming and identifying syllables) through structured storybook reading and hands-on activities. It provides a systematic, play-based approach that prepares children for formal reading instruction at school.

Casey the Caterpillar Handwriting
Casey the Caterpillar is a multi-sensory handwriting program that uses a simple story and character-based approach to teach children the shapes and strokes needed for writing letters. By linking movements to Casey’s journey, it helps young learners build fine motor skills, pencil control, and confidence in early writing, without the need for boring worksheets. Your child will learn to correctly form letters from the start.
How do our sessions run?
Your child will join us for 1.5 hours of fun! Our sessions are broken up into manageable chunks that are a combination of structured learning as a group and individually as well as time for interaction, freeplay and Prep style learning rotations.

1. Arrival & Settling In
Children arrive and begin with puzzles, blocks, or quiet floor activities while they warm up and feel comfortable. Sometimes we may also have some imaginative play out for them in the waiting area to kick off interaction and discussion amongst peers.

2. Welcome Circle & Shared Story
We start together with group welcome, and a picture book that sets the theme for the day. This mat time routine is similar to what your little one will experience in Prep. We incorporate some movement or games (eg Simon says) to break up the floor time to avoid anyone getting too restless and practise instructions.

3. Literacy
We introduce a fun, structured PreLit activity, such as identifying sounds, rhyming clapping syllables, or recognising letters through games. Here, we work on taking turns to answer questions and revise what we've learned in previous weeks before moving on to our focus for the day.

4. Handwriting
We move on to our name writing station where each child practices building their name with physical letters, then tracing and writing their name. After that we move on to our Casey Caterpillar handwriting lesson where we practice pre-writing shapes on our mini whiteboards or blackboards after demonstration by the teacher.

5. Snack Break
A short break for morning tea and chats with friends. We also practice routines such as hand washing, taking care of belongings and opening and closing containers and packaging. Once again, we've designed this as part of our program to allow the children to practise what they will soon be experiencing in Prep.

6. Activity Stations
Just like they will in Prep, children rotate through play-based learning stations, including:
• Fine motor & craft
• Numeracy & problem-solving
• Sensory & imaginative play
These follow on from our structured lessons and allow students to make a choice about where they start, to continue to build their independence and stamina for tricky tasks.
